The Storm of 2010… Version 2.0

Last week was a very crazy, snowy week. Here is an overview:

Monday, February 1 : work day canceled

Tuesday, February 2: school canceled

Wednesday, February 3: school canceled

Thursday, February 4: school’s on

Friday, February 5: They were calling for “Snowmaggedon,” “Snowpocolypse,” or “The Worst Storm of the Century.” We were already planning a trip to C’ville to see Kathleen (Tim’s sister) before she left for Argentina for 5 months, but we got a bit worried with the storm. We were supposed to get snow in the Richmond area, but not the 1-2 feet in Charlottesville. When we finally got the call that school was canceled at 5:40 on Friday, we hopped in the car and hit the road. We didn’t want to miss Kathleen, and we certainly didn’t want to miss this snowstorm!

We left at 7:45. It started snowing at about 8:15, and we got to the Doyles’ house at about 8:50. Not too bad! It only slowed us down by about 5 minutes. The snow didn’t stop until Saturday night, and I think we got between 1 1/2 to 2 feet. It’s amazing!

We finally went out in the snow on Saturday with Kathleen, Josh, Kevin and Lauryn (they surprised us by getting here earlier today). We had a ton of fun:

We started by sledding near the Doyles’ house.

And then the snowball fight started.

Then, just as it started getting darker, we started making the igloo.

The igloo ended up being about 3 1/2 feet high, 8 feet long and 5 feet wide. Not too bad!

My guess is that it will still be there in April.

    Great Igloo….great pictures!

The igloo is still looking sturdy as of now. The best part is how much the neighborhood kids love it and still play in it!
